Sunday, June 1, 2014 This day was a bus tour to Loch Ness. We got to stop plenty of time throughout the 3 hour journey to get there, making it an all day affair. We left the college at 8:15am on a 19 passenger bus. This day is a much shorter summary, and I cannot post as many pictures because they are all on my camera, rather than my phone and I cannot connect my camera to my iPad. Most of my pictures are from Loch Lochie and the Highlands. It was BEAUTIFUL everywhere.

Today we just had class. I gave a presentation on Bucked Shins with Mikaela and Hannah. We did great I’d say, and we learned a lot from the other presentations on Grass Sickness, GBED, EPM, HYPP, and Lethal White Foal Syndrome. Grass sickness is most prominent in the UK and there hasn’t been a reported case in the US. You should check any of them out if you’re interested in the health of horses or diseases in general.

We also were able to ride again today and I got to ride Nemo again! I love that horse. However, I got to actually feel his right lead canter today and he seems to have something wrong. I’m not sure what, and I was told it just is like that, but he wanted to fall in and he was favoring his left leg maybe? I’m really bad at diagnosing lamenesses but he definitely was uncomfortable from that point on.

Scheduling has become kind of an issue for us because things keep changing. For example, on Saturday, our chaperone asked us if we would rather go to Loch Ness or Loch Lomond. We all said Loch Ness of course, but we thought we were going to Loch Lomond another weekend, which come to find out, we are not. So that kind of struck some of our hopes. Also, we are supposed to have a trip to ASDA (the local walmart) every Monday. People plan for that and a lot of the girls wanted to go to get laundry supplies, water bottles, etc. Now we hear that it wasn’t set up for Monday and they didn’t even change it to Tuesday like someone had told us. So we had to request it, even though it is on our itinerary. I’m curious how much else has changed or we have to set up on our own.

I can’t complain though. This past week has been one of the best times of my life. I’m learning so much, and seeing so many sights. I’m VERY happy :) At this point, if I were to review my time, I’d say that the good hugely outweigh the bad. Unorganized schedules are a little thing compared to the opportunities we are getting here.
